The Long Island Sound Chapter supports the Chief Warrant Officers of the Connecticut and Long Island area.

The LIS chapter is involved with various community service projects including working with American Legion Post 15 to deliver Thanksgiving meals to shut-ins, volunteering at the CT Food Bank and collecting unwanted bed linens from each graduating CG Academy class for distribution to local shelters.

The LIS chapter presents a coin to the Academy’s Enlisted Person of the Quarter and a plaque to Academy’s Enlisted Person of the Year, partners with the local Chief Petty Officers Association and Enlisted Association in providing concessions for Academy sporting events, and represents the CWOA to the corps of Cadets presenting awards and providing mentoring to the future officers of the Coast Guard.

The LIS chapter also works extensively with the Chief Warrant Officer Professional Development School in New London by sponsoring a welcome reception for each incoming class, making a formal presentation about the CWOA to each class on graduation day, and presenting a physical fitness award to the student that accumulates the most aerobic points during each three-week class.
