Remembrance of LCDR Carl Powers

Carl A. Powers, LCDR, a long-time resident of Everett Washington, died September 20, 2017. He is survived by Annie, his wife of 56 years. Carl was a loving father and grandfather to his five grand children: Ruth Johnson and her two children; Blake and Lauren; and Carl “Austin” Jr. and his wife Tracey and their three children: Cullen, Connor and Carlene. Carl was born in Loris, South Carolina. He honorably served in the US Coast Guard as a Lietenant Commander and retired after 30 years of military service. He went on to work in the private sector as a chief engineer for an oil exploration company. In his later years, Carl spent his time enjoying the simple pleasures of life. His hobbies included shopping at the local swap shops and thrift stores, meetings with the CWOA, growing veggies in his backyard garden, and spending time with family. Carl was a giving man and stepped in as a father role model to his grandkids during their formative years when his help was needed. He will be missed by all who had the fortune to know him.
Visitation will be held from 10am-11:30 am , Friday Oct. 20th at Marlatt Funeral Home: 713 Central Ave. N. Kent, WA 98032. A procession to the service with full military honors will immediately follow to Tahoma National Cemetery at 18600 SE 240th St., Kent , WA.
